A.   INTRODUCTION (IGBA NJU)

The suitor brings to the prospective father-in-law the following:

1.   A carton of star beer

2.   Two gallons of special palm wine

3.   A crate of mineral

4.   A sum of two thousand naira for the prospective bride

5.   A sum of one thousand naira for the list.

B.   SHAKING OF HAND AND IKPA NRI

1.   Two gallons of palm wine

2.   Two cartons of beer (star and gulder)

3.   A he-goat (okiri)

4.   Two crates of mineral

5.   A crate of malta guiness

6.   A big stockfish

7.   A basketful of coconut (30 pieces)

C.   PAYMENT OF BRIDE PRICE (IWETE EGO)

1.   Fourteen – twenty gallons of palm wine (56-80 litres)

2.   Two gallons of special palm wine

3.   Five cartons of bottle drinks: two cartons of star and gulder and a carton of small stout.

4.   Four crates of mineral

5.   A carton of guiness malt

6.   A bag of rice

7.   Meat for the preparation of soup and stew and condiments

8.   Four large tubers of yam

9.   Four thousand naira for the cooks

10.                Three thousand naira for the women

11.                One thousand, five hundred naira for the prayer of the oldest man in the family of the bride.

D.  IGBA NKWU

1.   Twenty gallons of palm wine

2.   Two gallons of special palm wine (for prayer))

3.   Eight cartons of beer (four cartons of stars, three cartons of gulder and a crate of small stout)

4.   One bag of rice

5.   Four big tubers of yam

6.   Four crates of malta guiness

7.   Two bottles of hot drink

8.   Two thousand naira for the in-laws.

9.   One thousand five hundred naira for prayer of the oldest man.

10.                Provision of meat for soup and stew and the other condiments for stew and soup.

11.                Four thousand naira for the cooks

NB: money for the bride price is negotiable by the both parties

E.   SETTLEMENT OF NDI ADA

1.   A crate of malt

2.   A crate of mineral.

3.   The sum of two thousand naira
