MERITS OF JUNGLE JUSTICE

MERITS OF JUNGLE JUSTICE
1.  Jungle justice helps to reduce the rate of crime wave in the society: This is because the punishments given to the arrested criminals are very severe and publicly executed. This tends to make the perpetrators of crime to be greatly scared of committing crime since they know that they would face the same ruthless punishment if found guilty of similar offence.

2.  Jungle justice is a faster means of delivering justice: Jungle justice is delivered instantly at the scene of crime without any iota of delay contrary to the great length of time it takes in the prosecution of criminals in the Court of law. The periodic adjournment of cases and the unending presentation of affidavit and counter affidavit between the prosecuting and the defendant counsels may keep on delaying a case for a period of years.

3.  Jungle justice helps to minimize the possibility of miscarriage of justice in the law court: The conviction and acquittal of an accused criminal in the court of law depends greatly on the legal manipulations of the lawyers and judges who in a swift display of legal chicanery may issue a verdict in favour of their clients. On the other hand, jungle justice is administered mainly on criminals who are caught red-handed in an offence and needs no further presentation of fact.

4.  Jungle justice helps the academically disadvantaged members of the society who lacks the knowledge of litigation to receive a befitting justice: This helps to eliminate all forms of prejudice, inequity and discrimination on the part of such individuals vis- a- vis the law thereby adhering to the principle egalitarianism in the rule of law.

5.  Jungle justice helps to minimize bureaucracy in the legal practice:  The tendency of flooding the law court with cases by the members the society will be reduced if they are allowed to settle some of the cases by themselves. This also saves the legal practitioners from being overwhelmed with too many legal proceedings taking place in the court of law.

6.  Jungle justice is a less financially demanding: This makes it feasible for people of very low economic status to exercise their legal rights without having to pay through their nose. It also reduces the tendency of the opulent members of the society dominating over the poor in legal affairs on the ground of wealth contrary to the principle of the rule of law.

7.  Jungle justice is a surer means of bringing justice to the grass roots level: When the members of the society are allowed to settle some cases by themselves, this does not only increase their quest for justice but also improves their knowledge of the law and enhances their active participation in the legal affairs thereby making no one a victim of offence on the ground of ignorance because ignorantia legis non excusat.

8.  Jungle justice helps to limit the excesses of the police in collection of bribe: the police whom by the virtue of their roles are empowered by the law to arrest criminals often misuse this opportunity to collect bribes and as a quid pro quo would set a criminal free without trial. This is not so in jungle justice since many people are involved and the judgement is passed instantly without delay.

9.  Jungle justice is a more appropriate means of dispensing justice in the third world countries: Due to poor technological know-how and lack of sophisticated instruments needed in synthesis of facts used as evidence in the court of law it becomes so hard to present a sound and logical proofs about cases even in the face of the truth because truths without legal proofs are immaterial in the court of law.  For instance a reasonable proof about rape cannot be given in the court of law without DNA testing whose facility is not available in the third world countries. Whereas in jungle justice such protocols are not required in the face of the truth.
